Rnd 13 Weekly Wrap
Date of Event Hadspen Cricket Club : Tue Feb 2, 2021 8:22AM

Congratulations to Dilan Jayalath who notched up his 1000th HCC run on Saturday with a well made 60 at Morven Park - Keep up the great work DJ

FEMALE BOOM (6th) v Bracknell lost by 36 runs

Up against one of the league's benchmarks, we put in a gallant effort.
In restricting Bracknell to 2-145, Dilani Nimmi (1-12) and Aliya Gunn (1-12) were successful with ball in hand.
And in reply, it was Dilani (19*), Kate Dobber (23*) and Mel Denman (16*) that performed strongly in getting us to 3-109.
Keep up the good work!

PREMIER LEAGUE (2nd) v Evandale - won by 226 runs

Back after the bye, the lads were on song with both the bat and ball.
Batting first, we smashed our way to 3-324 thanks to many solid contributions.
Thanuka Dabare fell two runs short of his second 40-over century this season and put on a 70-run opening stand with Dane Anderson (32).
Dilan Jayalath (60) joined Nook at the crease and the combined pair combined for 135, before Deepak Singh was shifted up the order to go big - and that he did.
The all-rounder smashed an unbeaten 87 off 37 deliveries and put on a 100-run stand with skipper Liam Reynolds (23*).
In defence, Nook was the only multiple wicket-taker with 2-9, while Sameera Vishwranga (1-10), Kyle Strochnetter (1-25), Deepak (1-14), Beau Hills (1-10) and Damian Woods (1-1) struck once.
A brilliant display that included one of the best pieces of fielding you'll ever see - a direct hit from DJ 30-odd metres out to dismiss Karan Singh.

A-GRADE - BLACK (3rd) v Cressy - won by 8 wickets

The lads made it seven wins on the trot at home after restricting a young Cressy outfit to 115.
Ash Smith (5-11) picked up his second five-wicket haul of the season and was well supported by Dion Beams (1-14), Shahid Ahmed (0-14), Travis Crisp (1-21), Matt Green (1-14) and Jarrad Enniss (1-25).
With the bat, Stephen Smith loved being back at the top of the order and saw us home with an unbeaten 44.
However, his innings was overshadowed by a 12-ball half-century from Adam House who was eventually dismissed for 58 before we were declared victorious just two down in 10.1 overs.

A-GRADE - RED (8th) v Beaconsfield - lost by 38 runs

In the field first up, we had Beaconsfield 7-196 at the end of their 40 overs.
Faheem Khan was our leading wicket-taker with 3-47, while Will Grey (2-22) and Josh Walker (2-25) collected two each.
We put in a fighting effort with the bat led by Alan Eadie with 53 of 68 balls.
Curtis Hodgetts (28) and Campbell Fraser (17*) both got starts but we ended up all out for 158 with two overs remaining.

B-GRADE (6th) v Longford- lost by 6 wickets

Facing the ladder leaders, we batted out our 40 overs to end up 7-97 with Ged Neskovcin (16), Max Reissig (12) and Brett Matthews (14) getting starts.
Max collected 2-24 in defence while Dave Smith (1-18) and Will Reeve (1-17) broke through before the hosts passed the required total in 24.5 overs.

C-GRADE (4th) v Trevallyn - lost by 17 runs

The match that got away with mistakes costing us the four points.
Electing to bowl, we bowled Trevallyn out for 173 in the final over with Ji Cooley picking up with 6-22 - a masterful display that included a hat-trick over two overs to become just the seventh Chieftain to take one. Well done mate.
With the bat, we lost wickets regularly and ultimately fell short despite 52 from captain Nick Young and contributions from Cooley (32), Aaron Turner (16) and Paul Degetto (17).
